Who is this Guy?
Hi, my name is Chet Kiekhafer and I’m the guy behind Crow River Custom Rods. I build custom fishing rods to your unique specifications and suited to your individual needs! Using only the best components available, your custom hand-crafted fishing rod will utilize proven methods, attention to your needs creating a fishing experience for you one rod at a time.
I started fishing when I was a youngster with my Dad; we would take a family vacation to a lake resort and spend the entire week fishing. We had a wonderful time passing away the summer days.
I’m a retired process engineer of 34 years from a Fortune 500 company located in Minnesota. After retiring at the age of 56, I needed some other activities besides fishing and snowmobiling to take up my time. I started building some fishing rods for family and friends as a pass time and soon realized that it was addictive and I needed to make more. I picked up my skills from world renowned craftsmen and joined the Custom Rod Builders Guild.
Being an engineer by schooling was a good lead in to designing custom fishing rods. There are many ways to achieve the end result which is why I find this a fascinating craft.
